    Looking forward to the warmer weather of spring and the lazy days of summer? Then now is the time to think about upcoming fashion trends. Below are the anticipated spring and summer clothing trends as well as earring styles and colors to accessorize with them.
     Clothing styles continue, as in the fall/winter 2007, to be more feminine than in previous years. The runway shows had a variety of styles to choose from, but common trends seemed to be 1950's style dresses with bell skirts, wide belted waists, slim pencil skirts, and great fitted slacks. The designers also borrowed from the 1920s/30s for inspiration on pinstriped feminine power-suits (think Marlene Deitrich) and drop-waisted "flapper" style dresses. The 1970's were also inspirational for designers with fluid maxi-dresses and pant suits making a comeback. Other common themes seen throughout the shows were jersey t-shirt dresses, dresses that were Greek goddess-like in their drape, and asymmetrical dresses and skirts. Denim seems to be making a comeback too, especially in the form of jackets.
     Blue is predicted to be extremely hot this spring and summer. Shades like blue topaz, aquamarine, blue jade, blue opal, sapphire, and lapis lazuli seem to be common in clothing and accessories for the upcoming season. Deep purples and Yellows are trendy alternate colors this season.
     Some popular jewelry styles for the spring and summer are borrowing from nature, with a very organic earthy feel. Materials such as Shell, Coral, Pearl, Mother of Pearl, and Amber are common in this style of jewelry. Look for colors inspired by nature like honey yellows, rich browns, amber tones, creamy beiges, opalescent hues, dark garnets, amethysts, aqua blues, and smoky quartzes.
     Another popular style this spring and summer is inspired by sharp contemporary architecture with some Art Deco influences. Concepts common in this style are elongated linear stones or beads, chains, metallic sheens, and subtle graduation of colors. Colors found in this style are artic blues, dark midnight blues, sapphire blues, aqua tones, and deep amethysts.
     Yet another style trend in jewelry this spring and summer is a mixture of renaissance, medieval and gothic styles. This trend features large stones with heavy decoration that feel rather opulent. Colors that are seen with this style are black, warm citrus tones like orange, fiery reds, deep royal purples, olive greens, and ocean blues.
     Romantic jewelry will be popular this spring and summer with a modern twist inspired by computer graphics and popular culture.  Common themes are hearts, stars, animals, flowers and delicate stones.  Complementary colors include mint greens, lovely lavenders, green apple shades and rasberry-inspired pinks.  The other common themes in earrings for the upcoming season are ethnic styles that feature Asian, African or Egyptian influences and chunky styles that feature lucite or wood.
